Three Key Features You Need In A Commercial Vacuum Cleaner

Key Insights
  • A cordless, battery powered vacuum cleaner is more efficient, easier to use and store
  • Your i-vac is high tech with built in 'whizzo' system
  • A HEPA 14 filter is the highest level of HEPA filter available and can remove 99.99% of particles, allergens, and pathogens that measure 0.3 micrometers in diameter

The best commercial vacuum cleaners don't come cheap, which is why it's important to choose the right range for your business and cleaning requirements.

Depending on your industry, you may have strict cleanliness standards that require special commercial vacuum cleaning equipment to do the job properly. Or, you may simply need powerful and easy-to-use vacuums that enable your staff to quickly and effectively clean a workspace in tight timeframes.

Whether you’re looking to upgrade or expand your range of cleaning equipment, here are three must-have features you should look for in an industrial vacuum cleaner.

Go further with battery-powered, cordless vacuums

Nothing is a bigger time suck - or more frustrating - than vacuuming floors with a bulky vacuum attached to a power cord.

For workplaces with a lot of floorspace, flights of stairs, and other hard-to-reach nooks and crannies, a battery-powered, cordless vacuum with long-lasting battery power is a must for your cleaning crew. Besides getting back more time for your staff to spend on other cleaning tasks, a cordless vacuum reduces the risk of people getting injured from tripping over cables that run through rooms and hallways with a lot of foot traffic.

Commercial Vacuum with a cleaner

Easy to maintain

When designing our own range of commercial vacuums, we found that one of the leading causes of vacuum motor failure is due to cleaners neglecting to empty the dust bag when it’s full.

While many conventional vacuums have a ‘fill line’ to indicate when the vacuum bag or cup should be emptied, time-pressured cleaning staff just don’t have the time to stop and check this at random intervals, if they even remember to do so during their rounds.

That’s why we built our patented ‘whizzo’ system into the i-team vac range. When one of our vacuums needs attention (such as when the dust bag is full), it emits a loud whistle to alert the operator before any damage is done to the unit. On top of this, the whizzo system also injects cooling air into the motor to prevent it from overheating, adding to the lifespan of your commercial vacuum cleaner. Over time, this simple feature could save your business thousands of dollars in avoidable repairs to your cleaning equipment, while allowing your staff to continue focusing on the job at hand without having to worry about their vacuum overheating.

Thoroughly cleans and filters the air from any lingering irritants or particles

If you need to achieve a certain level of cleanliness that meets your industry's standards, a conventional vacuum probably won’t cut it.

While they may clean away visible dirt from your floors, many conventional vacuums actually recirculate dust particles in the air, posing a health hazard for building occupants who may be asthmatic or otherwise sensitive to dust.

Depending on your needs and compliance obligations, you’ll want to look for vacuums that are equipped with a High-Efficiency Particulate Absorbing (HEPA) or even a Ultra-Low Particulate Air (ULPA) filter.

A HEPA 14 filter is the highest level of HEPA filter available and can remove 99.99% of particles, allergens, and pathogens that measure 0.3 micrometers in diameter. An ULPA filter removes even smaller particles that are 0.12 micrometers in diameter (which is normally necessary for only very specific applications, such as in a laboratory).

Both of our vac-6 and vac-9b units are available with these different filtration options.
